Oilfield Valve Company Hires PEC Laser to Create Custom Wrenches

Sourcing a laser metal cutting shop to create custom valve wrenches may seem like a strange solution. Purchasing a wrench from a tool supplier was an option for our customer; however the lead time was too long. PEC Laser was able to create a cost-effective solution with a quick turnaround.

SOLUTION

Our shop was able to fabricate a custom valve wrench head (see photo). We also welded a custom handle that provided the leverage they needed. The thickness of the head was 1”, in which our laser machine was capable of cutting. The shaft handle was 1” diameter manufactured from schedule 80 pipe. Prototypes were fabricated to ensure proper fit, and then the pieces were sent for production.

Our customer got a cost-effective and timely solution so that they could properly service their client in this competitive Oil & Gas Marketplace.
